Nexon (Korean: 넥슨) is a publisher and developer of free-to-play MMORPG and mobile games. Nexon was founded in Seoul in 1994. Their current headquarters is in Tokyo, Japan.
Nexon was founded in Seoul, South Korea in 1994 by Kim Jung Su and Jake Song. Their first title, Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds, is developed and published in 1996, and is still serviced today. They have developed and published several games since. MapleStory was developed in Korea in 2003, and it quickly became their most popular game. It has been localized for several countries, with the newest version localized for Indonesia. Although Nexon was founded in Korea, it's headquarters has since moved to Tokyo, Japan. Nexon continues to have offices in North America, Europe, Korea, and Japan.
Nexon games generally feature a premium currency called NX. It can be purchased with real-world money to obtain special items through a premium shop. Most of these items don't give purchasers an advantage over non-purchasers, but there have been some exceptions.
